In 1976 the Social Security earnings maximum rises to 15300, up from 14100 in 1975, and the earnings cap for benefits rises to 2760 from 2520. If earnings exceed 2760, benefits resume if monthly wages stay under 230 and self‑employment is not substantial. Medicare Part B premium also increases to 7.20 monthly in July 1976. Kirksville Missouri will host the fourth annual Girls State High School Basketball tournament with semi finals February 20 and finals February 21 at Pershing Arena. Putnam County Veterans Receive Shared GI Insurance Payouts
About 100 Putnam County veterans will share roughly 9 000 each from a 376.8 million GI insurance dividend payout accelerated by the government. World War II Korean War and other policy holders are eligible while Vietnam era holders are not. Amounts vary by policy size and type with averages of 184 for World War I veterans 93 for World War II and 18 for others.

Grasslands For Profit Ass'n Adopts Brucellosis Resolutions
A countywide Brucellosis meeting drew 160 live stock producers at Don's Hickory House where Dr. Fon E Owings spoke on eradication program issues. The Grasslands For Profit Association sponsored the event and a unanimous resolution called for discontinuing Brucellosis Strain 19 vaccine due to questions about effectiveness and safety.

National FFA Week Proclaimed in Missouri
February 21 through 28 is declared National Future Farmers of America Week in Missouri. The observance promotes FFA and vocational agricultural programs in public schools with 235 chapters and over 15 000 members. Variety of Business at PC R-1 School Board Meeting
The PC R-1 Board of Education met in regular session on Tuesday February 10 approving minutes and hearing evaluations from principals Delbert Camp Marcus Hounsom and Larry Kackley. They outlined misconduct policies including tobacco drugs alcohol suspensions paddling and riding-privilege losses. The Conservation Commission can use the high school for a Wiki Life exhibit March 19 with Joe Karaty in charge. Annual election set for April 6 with two directors to be elected and filing by March 6. Mileage rates for teachers were set and Bartlett Carman approved to haul trash for the three city schools. Bills were approved and the meeting adjourned. attendees included J R Connell and Don Connell at the funeral of their father J D Connell.
