The Separpte om aobenely Wy wee picts presented a Friday night performance at the Opera House. The audience laughed at many funny situations and the house was nearly full. The show improved the Aid by about fifty dollars and left attendees satisfied and eager for another performance.
A Tuesday afternoon fire on the roof of the Pollock building housing D G Ward & Co. caused about 200 dollars in structural damage and 500 to 1000 dollars in stock loss from smoke and water. A bucket brigade fought the blaze until it was extinguished and insurance fully covered the damage.
The notice declares Harry Woodruff seeks the sheriff’s office in the Republican primary on August 1, 1916. Woodruff is a Putnam native and announces his candidacy in this column.
A respected county figure with four years as a penitentiary guard at Jefferson City and long service as Union Township constable and Recorder deputy is praised for high moral character and genial disposition. Supporters say his election would ensure proper administration for four years.
Regular teachers examinations will be held at the new Unionville high school building on Friday and Saturday March 8 and March 4. Subjects will be given in regular order under H U G Turnmire superintendent.

Letters of guardianship for John T Williams, insane, were granted February 15, 1916, by the Probate Court of Putnam County Missouri. All claimants must exhibit their claims within one year from publication or be barred. Guardian VID Williams announces.
Republican delegates were chosen to Kirksville on March 6 and Excelsior Springs on April 6 with alternates named. The convention endorsed Jacob L. Babler’s leadership and urged GOP unity, pledging to restore party principles and support C W Mullenix for the national convention. A spring banquet was tentatively planned for a Saturday evening in early May with about five hundred tickets expected.
Monday the resignation of C. W Mullenix as cashier of Citi zens Bank was accepted to take effect April first. He has led the bank since its organization, about six years, earning strong regard in Unionville and the county. No successor yet named, decisions on his future plans remain unsettled.
Charles DeForest Parks born June 22 1868 in Rock Falls Illinois founded the Unionville Leader in 1889 and died February 9 1916 in Des Moines Iowa Mrs Julia Brasfield attended his funeral in Unionville sentence continues with a note of his graduation.
Obituary notes the death of a longtime editor and publisher who started the Unionville Leader in 1889 after westward moves from Cedar Rapids and Rock Falls. He held posts at the Semi Weekly Tribune in La Junta and later Des Moines papers, survived by a widow and three daughters, with interment in Woodland cemetery.
Mrs. J. A. Helferstine received a telegram stating Miss Goldie Hard died at her Blanca Colorado home. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Hard and was visiting with Helferstine on their last West trip. She was 20 years old.
