At E J McKinley’s home in Utontonville on Saturday February 1 1913 the marriage of Evan E Bearer and Miss Haxtel Are was solemnized by a writer on the marriage altar. The groom is a worthy young man and the bride a highly regarded young woman noted for independence and moral character.
Don Lightfoot suffered a severe scaffold accident when a steel reinforcing rod pierced his leg and groin area. The rod also penetrated the abdomen but spared vital organs after surgery by Doctors Bronson and Jones. Lightfoot, a well known local, is recovering at Newlere.
William J Buck died January 27 1913 after a five day illness at age 77 years 9 months and 18 days He was born in Jackson County in 1835 and moved to Iowa in 1855 later settling on a farm in Ap noose County before moving to Putnam County He married Nancy J Hudson in 1870 and had children Thomas John William Corre ct Mary Olle and others all surviving except the son Sitter He joined the Baptist church in 1870 and funeral services were held

Arkson N Berry of Mendota dies at age 57 after a yearlong illness from heart disease and dropsy. He was born in Shelby County on August 31 1855 and moved to Mendota as a child, living there the rest of his life with his brother Lou. He joined the United Brothers church about fifteen years ago and lived by its tenets. He is survived by three brothers and four sisters and a funeral was held at Lou Berry's home conducted by Rev E J McKinley before burial in Perkins Cemetery.
Administrator's sale of the Ward estate near four miles southwest drew a large crowd. Livestock prices ranged from $8.50 for shoats to $19.50 for small calves, with steer calves at $5 to $80 and three-year-old horses $122 to $132. Cows sold $47 to $68, yearling heifers about $82, corn sold by the bushel at cents and hay at five dollars a ton. total value $1,464. McKshimsy oversaw the bidding and sale.
