J. R. Wellingham of Milan died at home last Friday after a long illness. Funeral was held in Milan and his body then taken to Quincy. He married Alice Elizabeth Paul on March 8, 1888, who survives with three children. He had worked 43 years for the Burlington railroad and was a conductor on the Quincy to Milan run.

Authorities arrested Arthur Webber after a depot burglary near Glenwood January 23rd amid claims the seed was hauled to a Milan area farm. The 2x14 seed valued at 707 dollars involved a complex scheme using a false identity Arthur Boysen to ship and bill the seed through Lancaster banks. Collision on No 5 highway causes car to overturn on Blackbird hill
