Livonia suffered a Friday morning fire that destroyed the two story school building valued at about two thousand dollars along with the library books and equipment. Principal Mrs Billington and assistant Mr Billington led a quick response but 150 students lost their books. A town meeting is planned for February 12 to discuss forming a school district and rebuilding. Lucerne recently completed a new building as a model for Livonia’s future.

Robert McDonald, 23, grandson of Mr and Mrs Thos Hunt of near Black Bird, died last Friday morning from a coal mine accident at Hiteman Indiana. The family awaits details as to how the tragedy occurred. The burial took place in Hiteman last Sunday.

Hearing Should be Held Over Says the Commission
Attorney Busby told J C McKinley over the phone that evidence in the Burlington path train service suit was misplaced and a new hearing should be held. The old Railroad and Warehouse Commission order from 1912 had been challenged and then sidetracked by court actions and a political shift. If pressed, a new suit must be started, but years of delay may render passenger trains of little use to most residents.
