Four Injured in Lake Thunderhead Car Truck Crash
A 5:45 p.m. crash on Highway north near Lake Thunderhead entrance sent four youths to hospitals. Crystal Hawkins 7 sustained fractures and concussion and remained unconscious but stable. Brad Dixon 6 and Sonja Dixon 7 had facial injuries, while Debbie Dixon 16 and Patty Drummom 17 were treated and released. Orval Thompson 53, driver of the truck, was uninjured as authorities investigated.

Calvin Malloy of Putnam County High School earned All District honors as an offensive back on the 1977 North All-District Football Squad. He led his team with 1,116 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns, starred as linebacker, and was a unanimous All Conference punter, offensive back and linebacker in the Tri Rivers Conference. He is noted as a most valuable player by his teammates and is the grandson of Mr and Mrs George Choate.
