Farmers report heavier crops with wheat at 2,066,000 acres yielding 15 bushels per acre and corn at 6,004,000 acres averaging 8 bushels. Oats on 1,508,000 acres average 17.6 bushels, rye at 50,000 acres about 10.8 bushels, and potatoes averaging 95 bushels per acre on 14,000 acres. Tobacco forecast at 4.9 million pounds.
Unionville baseball edged the visitors with four runs and allowed three. Buchan fanned 12 and issued no walks while Underwood struck out many, with two walks. One error was charged, by the visitors. Locals prep to play away next Sunday at Mt Moriah, a strong rival, with a likely rematch.

Hiram Perkins 69 a Mendota resident and Unionville figure is believed to have died of heart disease possibly worsened by heat while working near his home. His body was found Monday afternoon in a meadow behind the house by Hi Over of Mendota. Coroner Dr. J. C. Henson determined no evidence of foul play and no autopsy was required. Perkins is survived by several children and siblings and the funeral was held at two o’clock this afternoon.
