Ukiah Police Recover Kidnapped Eureka Boy
A five year old Eureka boy Keith Gilbert Shaw was recovered by Ukiah police after a kidnap incident. A 13 year old girl who had left her foster home planned to search for odd jobs and kidnapped the boy then hitchhiked to Sebastopol. They traveled until spotted by a bus driver and the girl was detained for juvenile hall transfer to Huggpolds County to face delinquency charges.

Tragic Graduation Ends in Crash Killing Marine’s Father
A Marine boot camp graduation day turned fatal when Virgil Amos Riley 44 of East Calpella Road died at the scene after a car driven by his son Lonnie Amos Riley struck an oak tree on Potter Valley Road near the Russian River bridge. Lonnie, who had just graduated, survived with facial and limb injuries and was treated at Hillside Community Hospital. Funeral services are pending at Eversole Mortuary.
