CEQ chief urges aerosol fluorocarbon boycott and phase-out
Logan Utah UPI The chair of the President's Council on Environmental Quality urged consumers to boycott and manufacturers to stop producing aerosol products with fluorocarbons. Dr Russell Peterson called for voluntary phase-out of fluorocarbons 11 and 12, with federal rules to follow. He cited NAS findings that these gases threaten the ozone layer and recommended regulators develop rules to restrict discharges while seeking safer substitutes. The NRDC backed an immediate ban on fluorocarbon aerosols.
