PG and E predicts nationwide rolling blackouts within years

Washington experts revise forecasts to foresee forced power outages across the nation within two years due to limited generating capacity. The Southeast could face outages as early as 1979, spreading to the East Midwest and Southwest by 1981, with Pacific Northwest hydro shortages raising 1986 blackout risks in northern California. Conspiracy claims swirl around Peoples Temple leader Jones

UPI reports attorney Charles Garry alleging a government conspiracy to destroy the Peoples Temple in San Francisco. The pastor Rev. Jim Jones was reportedly shot at twice in four days at the church’s South American mission in Guyana. Dennis Banks said a man claimed to be a government agent tried to blackmail him into denouncing Jones in exchange for extradition immunity.

Lance overdrafts and aircraft use tied to budget chief duties

Senate Rejects 10 Percent Personal Income Tax Cut

The Senate voted down Sen. William Roths amendment to lower the 395 billion revenue minimum by 11.4 billion to allow a possible 10 percent individual income tax cut. Roth argued it would spur business, create jobs, and ease middle income burdens. He spoke of relief for middle earners paying for cars homes and college costs.

Public Execution in Kampala Over Idi Amin Plotters

Fifteen people, most charged with plotting to overthrow Idi Amin, were shot by a firing squad in a public execution in Kampala. The shots rang over the city near a clock tower built in 1959 in honor of Queen Elizabeth II.

Botsford Bound Over To Superior Court In Fatal KOA Stabbing

Lomita youth Larry Botsford 18 was bound over after a two hour preliminary hearing on charges of murder burglary and use of a deadly weapon in the Aug 12 killing of Michael Wilson 54 store manager at KOA campgrounds near Willitson Highway 20. Witnesses including Michael Wilson Jr 15 testified to the stabbing and struggle. Botsford faces a potential life term if convicted. He remains jailed with bail set at 25 000 to 50 000 and a Sept 16 Superior Court appearance scheduled.

Court reporter pay powers approved for Mendocino Lake counties

Governor Brown has signed Assemblyman Barry Keene's bill to allow Mendocino and Lake counties to set local court reporters salaries. Keene says salaries there are well below nearby areas, causing shortages of qualified reporters and prompting the supervisors to seek the bill.
