Emily Layman 94 dies in Ukiah rites Tuesday
Funeral services for Mrs Emily R Layman 94 of Ukiah who died this morning in a local hospital are set for 11 am Tuesday at Eversole Mortuary under Rev Richard Taylor. Interment follows at Ukiah Cemetery. A native of England she lived in Ukiah 67 years and is survived by husband Daniel a sister Lillian Ireland of Washington and brothers Charles Grant Occidental and Herbert Grant Pine Grove.

Guards Replace Palace Guards in London Shortage
Khaki clad Royal Artillery troops took over guard duty at Buckingham Palace due to a shortage of regular red coated guards serving in Northern Ireland and overseas. This marked the third time this year that other regiments have been detailed to guard the Royal Family’s London residence. A Gurkha unit from Nepal is slated to take over in November.

Arthur Connor dies at 67 in Ukiah rites Monday
Funeral services for Arthur C. Connor 67 of Ukiah, who died Thursday, will be held at 1 p.m. Monday from the Eversole Mortuary under Rev. James Ratzlaff. Connor, born in Oklahoma, lived in the county 25 years and California 47. He was a barber and a members of the Barber's union. Survivors include wife Mary, two children Sharon McBroom and Everett Lawson, two brothers Bill and Ed, and two sisters Tennie Benge and Elsie Beck. An instrument will take place at the Chapel of the Chimes in Santa Rosa. Contributions to the TB and Respiratory Diseases Foundation are preferred.
