Speaker John Bennett Ritchie of Ritchie San Francisco will discuss “Akas Past and Future.” Ritchie, a West Point native, Yale graduate, and UC Berkeley lecturer on industrial parks, will be introduced by General Chairman Bob Kaufman of Mendocino Lake Savings and Loan. One Redwood Valley Calpella Schools Operate as One
Redwood Valley and Calpella schools plan joint operation for 1965 as classes merge. Firefighters battle grass blaze near Ukiah threatens homes
About 40 firefighters from the Ukiah Fire Department Redwood Valley Potter Valley Talmage and Division of Forestry fought a stubborn grass and brush fire that began on the Larkin Younce property off Oak Knoll Road and spread toward Fircrest Drive. High winds challenged crews as the fire was brought under control after several hours with no property damage beyond scorched brush and logs.

Potter Valley Youth Wounded in Hunting Accident
Potter Valley youth Charles E. McCord Jr., 16, was shot in the right arm yesterday while hunting in the Potter Valley hills. He was with Ralph E. Dobbins, 20, and Cecil Warren, 16, when Dobbins discharged a 30-30 lever action rifle as he unloaded it. McCord was taken to Ukiah General Hospital for treatment, per the sheriff's office.
