Voter registration in Mendocino County reaches 26 876 the highest on record Clerk Recorder Viola Richardson reports the surge results from a county drive run by 130 deputy registrars and candidate campaign headquarters opening September 14 and ending October 8.

Partly cloudy conditions across Northwestern California with a chance of rain late tonight and Saturday. Fort Bragg 42/60, Ukiah 42/69. Coastal small craft warning with gusty northerly winds 25 to 40 mph. Democratic registrations lead Republicans 2,067 votes amid totals: Democrats 15,384, Republicans 9,498, AIP 117, PFP 199, DST 1,663, misc 15. Pre-primary 1972 totals: D 13,317 R 8,702 AIP 92 PFP 146 DST 1,059 misc 8. Primary 1970: D 11,863 R 8,528 AIP 115 PFP 64 DST 373 misc 195, total 21,138. Ukiah Jaycees Kick Off Operation Red Ball Safety

The Ukiah Jaycees start Operation Red Ball to distribute stickers to homeowners for placing in children's bedroom windows. In emergencies a fireman can locate rooms quickly, speeding life saving rescue. American Red Ball Transit Co. ships discs from Indianapolis for community use.

North Vietnamese delegates pressed for the peace treaty to be signed on Tuesday in Paris and urged President Nixon to override South Vietnamese objections led by Thieu. They indicated willingness to meet Kissinger on Tuesday or after signing to discuss issues.

Ukiah Industrialist Al Thrasher Plans Northwest Move

Al Thrasher, prominent Ukiah industrialist, says he and his wife will relocate to the Seattle area within a short period. Ukiah Chamber Salutes Industry At Dinner Honoring 125 Plus

Ukiah Chamber of Commerce hosted a Salute to Industry dinner at the Home Arts building on the Redwood Empire Fairgrounds saluting upwards of 125 people and featuring 18 local firms with product displays. Dudley Dade of Southern Pacific Railroad spoke on industrial development and land and site portfolios for locating major firms in the Ukiah area.
