Graveside services for Theresa Frances Simpson eight of Ukiah were conducted at Laytonville Cemetery by Rev Father Culligan of Willits. Born in Sioux City Iowa she lived in Mendocino county twenty four years mainly in Laytonville and died in a Ukiah Hospital Zimmerman Mortuary arranged the services.

ADW Arrest in Fort Bragg Sparks Charges
Henry Howard Cureton aged 66 of Concord was arrested Saturday night by sheriff's deputies on assault with a deadly weapon charges. Robert Evans, 37 of Albion, accused Cureton after a store dispute in Albion. Evans says Cureton drew a pocket knife on him during the argument and the deputies took Cureton into custody on Fort Bragg.

Belgrade reports Yugoslav President Tito left for Washington to meet with President Nixon and U.S. officials. Accompanied by Foreign Minister Mirko Tepavac, Tito flies via Tyushin 18 turboprop with refueling stops in Prestwick Scotland and possibly Canada, arriving near Andrews Air Force Base around 1:30 p.m. EDT Wednesday.

Tipsy driving arrests reported in Ukiah area
Donald Goforth, 32, of Talmape was arrested at his home on Monday and booked on suspicion of drunk driving. Deputies from Shen's office acted on a Ukiah Justice Court warrant. California Highway Patrol officers later arrested Lafayette Lewis Clark, 67, on drunk driving at 398 Peach Street Ukiah. Charles Lewis was stopped on Pophwas near Gobby Street.

Low Bid For Scotts Valley Road Project In Lake County
Arthur B. Simi of Santa Rosa submitted the low bid of 205650 dollars for about one mile of 32 foot wide asphalt concrete roadway on Scotts Valley Road Lake County. Nine bids were received by the California Division of Highways Sacramento with completion set for fall 1972. Lange Paving of Lakeport submitted the only bid 16401.10 dollars for a loadometer scale pit on U.S. 101 near Calpella. The pit supports portable scales for truck weighing at locations as needed. The California Highway Patrol requested the pit near the existing Greyhound bus stop. patrol operations will shift when buses stop.

Bandit a two year old mongrel spent five days trapped inside a Northwest Orient 747 while the plane traveled from Seattle to Honolulu and to Tokyo and back. He escaped his cage and gnawed tin foil insulation in a rear compartment. Found weak after landing, he drank water and spat out foil.
