Taxable Sales Up In County Amid Volume Decline

Ukiah led Mendocino County taxable sales in the 1974 second quarter with 13.07 million dollars, while Willits fell to 4.61 million. County-wide sales taxes rose to 43.09 million from 41.02 million, as food and apparel stores show gains and most other categories see declines. overall sales volume declined 2.5 percent from 1973. Service stations surged 30 percent due to gasoline price hikes. nondurables rose 15.5 percent, but mobile home and new car sectors fell sharply. Per capita transactions rose to 810 dollars, up 6.3 percent.
