County supervisors blast Prop 1 as inequitable
The County Supervisors Association of California led opposition to Proposition 1. Executive Director Richard E Watson attacked the measure for imposing an across the board income tax cut with no distinction between income types. He warned that limits on state spending would shift taxes to schools and local governments, worsen property and sales taxes, and largely benefit business and corporations. He urged voters to reject Prop 1, noting the measure provides no guarantees of tax relief and would hinder future equitable relief. The CSAC released a 32 page analysis and scheduled an informational seminar for county officials on October 12 at SFO.
