Elmer Singleton a 36 year old former major league pitcher and Altus Chico Alvarez a 23 year old outfielder have signed 1957 contracts with the Cincinnati Redlegs. Potter Valley Beats Maxwell 62-34 in Six-Man Clash

Potter Valley Bearcats outscored Maxwell Panthers 62-34 at Maxwell Friday night. Scotty Nelson returned a kickoff 60 yards for a TD, Larry Cook scored three times, and Mike Morton added five touchdowns on completed passes. Potter Valley Jayvees lost 31-27 in the preliminary game. Ukiah High Cross Country Opens Season at Tamalpais Meet

Ukiah high school will enter its first interscholastic cross country meet at Tamalpais High School Wednesday at 3:30. Coach Williamson plans a three way meet to test a young squad including sprinters turned distance runners led by Bob Ryder Ken Anderson and Tom Bergl as leaders on a 1.8 mile course.
