The planning commission approved by 6 to 1 vote the tentative map for Unit 6 of Moores & Associates Irish Beach expansion north of Manchester. Conditions include cul de sac access, future public buildings sites, utility easements, street grading, and septic system approval with ongoing maintenance by the homeowners association.

California hospital licensing urged to curb substandard care

Medi Cal director Dwight Geduldig urged tighter hospital licensing laws and revealed twelve facilities facing loss of Medi Cal treatment rights for failing to meet minimum medical standards. Lumber Train Derails Near Fortuna NWP Lumber Cars Scatter

About 30 cars of a Northwestern Pacific Railroad lumber train derailed early today, scattering lumber along a stretch of tracks and nearby Highway 101. The locomotives stayed on the rails and residents heard a thunderous noise at about 6 am. No injuries were reported.

Kissinger met Nixon in Washington after four days of talks with Hanoi diplomats in Paris and left with no public comment on progress. Tho left Paris for Hanoi while officials signaled difficulties remain. The Post cited tentative agreement on neutrality for South Vietnam but unresolved questions include Saigon political control and U.S. withdrawal. Revenue sharing bill near Senate approval in Nixon package

The Senate poised to pass Nixon’s revenue sharing program totaling 30.1 billion over five years, part of a three piece package. House approved the bill 256 110. Treasury to disburse initial 2.6 billion for 1972 with states keeping one third and localities receiving two thirds for safety transit and sewage projects.

Chamber to honor area industry at October Salute Night
