Redwood Valley Tops Women's Late Pin League Again

In the Thursday night 9 p.m. bowling league at Redwood Valley Shopping Center, leaders Redwood Valley and Park Motel and Rocky's Pizza sit near the top with 10-2 and 9-3 records respectively. Betty Markus of Farmers Insurance rolled a 212 to lead individual scores, with Flora Moschetti and Lou's notables posting strong 192s and three players hitting 170s. Several bowlers improved their averages as the season opened, including Leola McCaa and Norma Friend, while Frances others showed gains in series and high games across multiple teams.

Rugged 1-1 NHL style battle between Barons and Bears

James Bradford of Washington D C finished second in the heavyweight division at the world weight lifting championships in Warsaw. Jurij Vlasov of Russia won with a total of 1093 and a half pounds, edging Bradford by 44 and a half pounds. David Ashman of Santa Monica placed sixth with 957 pounds.
