Grass fires keep firefighters busy near Ukiah and Willits
Two fires burned eight acres of grass and brush yesterday nine miles apart. A five acre blaze began at 6:25 p.m. across from Densons Cookie Factory on Highway 101 eight miles northwest of Ukiah, threatening two structures saved by Forestry and Redwood Valley crews. A three acre fire started at 5:14 p.m. eight miles east of Willits, burning grass before full control at 11 p.m. One Forestry hand crew five engines one air tanker and the Airco helicopter fought the blazes.
