Faith Lutheran Thanksgiving Service at 10 A.M.

Faith Lutheran Church at 560 Park Blvd will hold its traditional Thanksgiving Day service tomorrow at 10 a.m. The service includes dedication of the new Worship Supplements and a special music program by the church choir with organist Mildred Gordon and soloist Eunice Mock.

State Parks Plan Holiday Open Days and Closures

California state parks will be open to the public on Thanksgiving Christmas and New Year’s Day, while most state historical units and museums will close. San Francisco Maritime State Historic Park stays open, Hearst San Simeon closes on Thanksgiving and Christmas but opens on New Year’s Day on a first come basis.

Hall low bidder on Fire Hall job

The lowest bid for the proposed addition to the Ukiah Fire Hall came from Austin Hall Construction of Ukiah at 17 696 dollars. Second low was Frank Crane of Ukiah at 18 540 dollars. Other bidders included Wagner Construction 19 400 Christiansen Construction 19 445 and Nolan Hunt 22 470. Hall listed Ukiah area subcontractors and Santa Rosa suppliers. Bids opened yesterday at the office of City Manager Lyell Dash.

Pomo Shrine Aids Ukiahi Band Trip To East West Game

Wild-Katz Band Club members learned the Pomo Shrine Club voted to donate 150 toward the 75 Ukiahi band members attending the East-West game at Stanford Stadium Palo Alto. An additional 350 is needed for bus costs as district transportation isn’t provided.

Lanson Davis dies at 87 rites Friday

Lanson Davis 87 died at his Ukiah home. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Friday at Eversole Mortuary with a graveside service at 4 p.m. in Kelseyville Cemetery. The Rev. Oren DeBoard will officiate. Davis, a retired carpenter, lived in the area 16 years and in California 45. Survived by wife Frances Weber Davis and children Abbie Eppert Lorena Bennett Margaret Wetherald James W. Davis Chester Davis.

Holiday safety forecast for Thanksgiving motorists

Howard Pyle, president of the National Safety Council, warned that 700 to 800 American motorists could die during Thanksgiving travel. Last year 764 people died in the holiday period, with an estimated 31,000 to 35,000 suffering disabling injuries over 102 hours from 6 p.m. today to midnight Sunday.

Death takes DeBruyn 84 funeral Friday in Ukiah

Martin DeBruyn 84 died November 21 in a Ukiah convalescent hospital. Funeral services are set for 11 am Friday at Everole Mortuary with burial in Ukiah cemetery. The Rev. Charles Graybeal will officiate. Born in Holland September 7 1885 he lived in California 40 years and in this community five years. Surviving are his wife Nellie DeBruyn Allan DeBruyn of Port Valley and one grandchild.
