Willits Junior Miss crowned at new Community Center

Stacy Brown, daughter of Mr and Mrs Robert Brown, was named 1976 Willits Junior Miss at the dedication of the new Community Center. Evelynne Lee Petre was first runner up and Molly Frenzel second runner up, with awards for poise, appearance, and scholastic achievement. The event featured two musical performances by master of ceremonies Al Canepa and Lee Elliott, plus Willits High School Stage Band and chorus.

Belknap collision death toll rises in Ionian Sea

Around Prio lo, Sicily, UPI reports that three missing sailors were found in the Belknap’s superstructure wreckage, raising the crash death toll to seven. A Sixth Fleet spokesman could not confirm, but earlier two of four men were found. one dead and one alive after the Saturday collision with the USS John F. Kennedy during night drills off the Sicilian coast.
