Lake County awards bid for transfer of garbage to Highlands
Lake County supervisors settled the dispute over transporting solid waste from Lakeport to Clearlake Highlands by awarding a $24,419 contract to Kenworth of San Leandro for a cab-over tractor. Public Works Director Gene Collins said county costs would run about $23,000 yearly with a 10 percent contingency, and noted faster delivery and lower insurance risk versus private hauling. The ruling followed a suit by TALC, which the judge found not properly constituted to sue and covered attorney costs to be borne by each side in future.
