Nixon seeks twenty percent cut in import tariffs

President Nixon asked Congress for authority to reduce tariffs by up to 20 percent to ease import pressure on American industry while proposing a commission to craft broader 1970s trade policies. Fair trade suit filed against Bulova dealers

Bulova Watch company sues Jon O Wonder jeweler Clarence L Tisher and A W Gray over alleged fair trade violations. They allegedly advertised and sold Accutron Bulova and Caravelle watches at reduced prices violating a written price maintenance contract. A temporary restraining order was issued. hearing set for Nov 28. Gene Edward Brewer of Ukiah was arrested on a traffic warrant and lodged on $1,000 bail or $2,600 bond.

Drugs suspect in custody in Boonville arrest

William A. Stevens, 18, of San Francisco, was arrested in Boonville on suspicion of possessing a dangerous drug. Deputies responding to a trespassing report booked Stevens at the county jail for violating health and safety code section 11530.

Blue Cross/65 Plan Expands Health Coverage For Seniors

A new plan extends health care benefits for those 65 and older with a four dollar monthly cost billed quarterly. Availability is year round for those applying before 65 or within 90 days after, while a limited window stays open to November 24, 1969 for those beyond 90 days. Royalhorses Sold For Meat Hide Festive Sorrow

London reports that Buckingham Palace and the British Defense Ministry confirmed horses of the royal household are sold for human consumption. A spokesman noted the practice dates back long and involves Household Cavalry and Royal Horse Artillery horses used in parades, with about 60 sold yearly for around 132 dollars each.

Grace L Emery Dies at 63 in Ukiah

Grace L Emery aged 63 died Monday at her Ukiah home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Zimmerman Mortuary, burial in Winters Cemetery at 2 30 p.m. The Rev Travis Hyatt of Ukiah First Presbyterian Church will officiate. Born in San Francisco she had lived in Ukiah 13 years. She was a Red Cross volunteer and taught First Aid. She worked as a psychiatric technician at Mendocino State Hospital. Surviving relatives include cousin Lucretia Chulick of Winters and an uncle with other cousins in the area.
