Ukiah council delays redevelopment plan after courtroom style hearing
Ukiah city council redevelopment agency postponed action on the plan after a four hour hearing at the Veterans Memorial building. Assistant District Attorney Tim Steen urged revision, listing 18 powers and challenging the environmental impact report. The PAC and planning commission recommendations urged not to approve the plan in its present form.

Mendocino College trustees received a geologist’s report praising Yokayo Ranch as free of geological hazards and suitable for a permanent campus. The board approved the finding pending final signature and sent a funding priority resolution to Sacramento for next year’s state budget.

Redwood Valley Man Killed In Freeway Crash
A 26 year old Redwood Valley man Gary W. Gibson died from injuries after being ejected from a pickup that went off a freeway near Calpella. Passenger Manuel Paz Jr. 27, Redwood Valley, was uninjured. The crash occurred at 12 40 a m as Paz drove north at high speed, the vehicle rolled down an embankment. Gibson died at the hospital.

False arrest claims denied by board of supervisors
The Willits defendants Dennis Weeks Randy Rowan and Harold Harrington had three $500 000 claims rejected by the board of supervisors on grounds the indictments for kidnap rape and murder connected to Barbara Stouds Jan 1973 slaying were not proven false.
