Jail trusty Plumley recaptured in Fresno by sheriff
Larry-Pean Plumley, a county jail trusty who escaped last week while on duty at the county hospital, was recaptured yesterday in Fresno and returned to custody by the Fresno County sheriff. He was driving a car stolen in Sacramento when pursued and will be returned here for further handling.

Ukiah's unofficial rainfall figure at noon today stood at 8.58 inches for the season, compared with 7.23 inches a year ago. Since Sunday at 5 p.m the total rose from 5.01 to 8.40 inches as intermittent rains continued, with squalls expected today and tonight.

High Sierras Hit By Severe Snow Storm
A fierce snow storm pounded the High Sierras with up to 40 inches of snow and 30 mph winds. The weather bureau urged stockmen to protect cattle as travel remained dangerous. Snow spread into Utah Nevada Idaho and into Arizona. California main trans mountain highways stayed open but travel was discouraged.
