UN General Assembly backs Palestinian self determination rights

The General Assembly approved a resolution recognizing the Palestinian right to self-determination and the return of uprooted property in four Middle East wars. The 101 to 8 vote with 25 abstentions marked a defeat for the United States and Israel and a victory for the Palestine Liberation Organization. Franco remains gravely ill after stomach-removal surgery. doctors report prognosis unchanged.

Hearst Lover Pleads Innocent In SLA Bank Robbery Case

Steven Soliah and Patricia Hearst associate faced charges after a bank robbery linked to the SLA and murder. Soliah pleaded innocent as Judge Wilkins allowed a second defense attorney Steffan Imhoff from San Francisco to join the defense.

Explosions Reported In Ukiah Parking Lots Saturday Night

Two balloon tied devices exploded in parking areas off State Street Ukiah causing minor damage. First blast at 10 05 p m near a Goodwill box at Safeway 600 block S State. Second blast near Arctic Circle drive in lot near N State and Norton Streets between 1155 p m and midnight. Police investigate heliarh filled devices.

Kissinger cites personal differences with Schlesinger

Secretary of State Henry Kissinger acknowledged differences and personal disputes with former Defense Secretary James Schlesinger. He said there was tension at the top of the national security effort and praised Schlesinger as capable. Ford said he dismissed Schlesinger to install his own team and noted a better atmosphere with Rumsfeld as his replacement.
