Trio Arrested For Robbing Ukiah Motel

Ukiah police arrested two men and a woman for burglary at the Ukiah Motor Court on Monday night. Claud Jay Fisher 26 William Henry Watson 40 and Mary Ann Becht 19 admitted stealing a portable radio and a fifth of whiskey from the Soderberg unit. They registered in Ukiah from Washington last week and are wanted in Washington and Oregon for similar burglaries.

Eisenhower to dedicate Abilene museum wings and hunt

Ukiah marks Veterans Day with a 30 unit downtown parade led by the Marine Corps band from San Francisco. Hospital Fugitive Held By LA Authorities

Mary M. Andrews of Mendocino State Hospital, 32, missing since last Tuesday, was arrested in a Los Angeles garage after police tracked her motorcycle. She had forced her mother to drive her to San Francisco and abandoned the car in the bay city. Authorities say she had escaped a private sanitarium and previously wounded her brother and a policeman.

Talmage Bridge Over River Opens Today

The state highway department opened the new 550-foot steel and concrete bridge between Ukiah and Talmage on the Russian River with minor finishing touches remaining. The $300 000 project, begun last September by Arthur B. Sim company, links new highway to the old road reducing accident curves and paving the way for demolition of the old steel and wood bridge within weeks.

Fair Sets 1955 Dates Restore Parade Ukiah Fair

The 1955 annual 12th District Fair and Exposition will run August 25 to 28. The board discussed opening hour options at a December 15 luncheon with Inter-Service Club Council and Chamber officials. A downtown opening parade is planned as a major event. Next meeting is December 1 at 2 pm. Directors approved over $2200 for curbs and gutters along 1300 feet of fairground frontage with local contributions contingent on four lanes.
