Hawks and 76ers win in NBA action

St Louis Hawks beat Seattle 111-96 to move to 13-1 while Philadelphia 76ers, at 9-1, defeated San Diego 129-114. Detroit edged New York 110-108 and Baltimore defeated Cincinnati 122-100. Willis Reed led Knicks with 28. Dick Snyder scored 21 for the Hawks. Oscar Robertson was sidelined for Cincinnati.

Hunter Safety Class Offered for Youth 12 to 18

A fourth hunter safety course led by instructor Don Scotto runs Friday night and Saturday with Ukiah Rifle and Pistol Club cooperation. The free program requires attendees to pass firearms safety to qualify for hunting licenses. Friday is an orientation at 7 p.m. at the Ukiah Municipal Clubhouse, rifles not allowed, with shooting on Saturday at the club range off Vichy Springs Road. Participants may bring a .22 rifle and five rounds for the safety test. successful completion yields a certificate for hunting licenses.
