President Carter grants final U S approval for a privately funded 4700 mile pipeline carrying Alaskan natural gas through Canada to the lower 48. The project costs at least 10 billion dollars and was approved after joint U S Canadian Alcan planning.
The Supreme Court unanimously affirmed Congress power to terminate Social Security payments to a disabled dependent child or other secondary beneficiary who marries a non entitled spouse, ruling the cutoff aligns with federal law.
President Carter, while aides survey overseas trip dates, invites former Israeli premier Golda Meir for a courtesy call at the White House amid focus on the Middle East and an upcoming energy address. Officials weigh late December or January dates, noting yuletide business slowdowns and energy policy pressures.
The planning department will start public hearings on the draft zoning ordinance for the city of Ukiah. Wednesday night’s meeting begins at 8 with the zoning hearing as the first agenda item, part of a multi item session.
