Ukiah Frosh finish undefeated with 38 14 win over Cardinal Newman

Ukiah Freshmen completed an unbeaten 1969 season defeating Cardinal Newman 38 14 in a dominant display. Led by coaches Jim Larson and Jerry Aikman the effort featured strong offense defense and special teams with key plays from Rick Simmons Chris Johnson Leo Cook Tim Wann and Andy Myers. They wrap up the season hoping to translate teamwork into basketball or wrestling next year.

Myers wins Harriers NBL medal on second chance

Ukiahi Athletic Director Charley Myers helped resolve a cross country schedule foul up that left Vallejo and Ukiah out. The NBL-I championship was held Nov 6 at Dan Foley Park, Vallejo, after a Wednesday switch not communicated to all teams. Vallejo and Ukiah may receive duplicate medals and be entered as teams in the Division III meet at St Helena next Thursday. The NBL also named Bill Abbey director for the first NBL basketball tourney at Sonoma State March 5-7 and hosted the CS Section II wrestling tourney at Sonoma State Feb 21 with Montgomery as host for a major mat event in Northern California.

Flag Football Jamboree Set for Saturday in Anton Stadium

Recreation Director Dave Strong announced the flag football jamboree for 5th and 6th graders at Anton Stadium will proceed at 9 a.m. if not raining. First round at 9 to 11:15 a.m. pits Nokomis, St. Marys, Yokayo-Frank Zeek, Oak Manor Redwood Valley, and Hopland Potter Valley, with finals at 1:30 p.m. Semi finals follow at noon and 12:45 p.m.
