Ukiah Varsity and Jayvee Close 1969 Season at Anton

Ukiah High School to host its final home games Friday night at Anton Stadium with Jayvee kicking off at 5 30 and Varsity at 8 00 Both teams face the Petaluma Trojans who have troubled Ukiah in past meetings including two years ago when Petaluma netted a final gun safety to win and last season when Ukiah pulled out a comeback win aided by Jeff Rea and John Pearson.

Turkey shoot slated Sunday at Ford ranch

A Turkey Shoot event is planned Sunday at the Bob Ford Ranch, north of downtown, with rifle and shotgun events and a 410 shoot for younger shooters. Redwood Valley Calpella Volunteer Firemen sponsor the 410. Food, refreshments, and entertainment are arranged for shooters, families, and spectators from 10 a.m. to dark.

Offensive stars spark Sooners clash in Missouri tomorrow

Oklahoma star Steve Owens and versatile Steve Zabel headline the Sooners as they face Missouri in Columbia. An expected 28 21 Oklahoma victory is previewed with Owens carrying the load and Zabel seen as a pre prospect. Also: national and regional college games and pro tilt predictions. Villagonza Takes California Bantamweight Title in 12 Round War

Stockton fighter Rudy Villagonza 117 3 4 defeated Rudy Corona 118 in a split decision to claim the California bantamweight title. Judges scored 8-2 11-1 8-2 as Villagonza overcame a late eighth round penalty and Corona bore facial cuts from the ninth. A crowd of 2,300 paid over $8,600 to see the bruising bout in Stockton.

Folley Beats Billy Joiner For Unanimous Win In Las Vegas

Zora Folley, formerly top ranked heavyweight, earned a unanimous 10 round decision over Billy Joiner of Cincinnati. Folley controlled the fight with precise blows, bloodied nose by late rounds, while Joiner pressed hard but failed to close the gap on the scoring.

Mendocino Open golf set for November 15 16

Signups are underway at Ukiah Municipal Golf Course for the Mendocino County Open Championship a 36 hole medal event on November 15 and 16 from 8 to 10 am daily.
