Christian and Moslem snipers kept the Lebanon truce fragile with a new round of killings around Beirut. Roughly 12 people died in hours of violence, pushing two months of fighting near 1200 dead and 3000 wounded as bombs and gunfire shattered streets despite a three day cease fire. In Madrid, Franco survived surgery after severe bleeding. Doctors said his condition improved from very grave to grave following a long operation and transfusions.
