Ukiah Valley fire district asks tax rate of 49 cents
Ukiah Valley voters head to the polls tomorrow to decide a district tax rate proposal of 49 cents per 100 dollars of assessed value, up from 28 cents under Senate Bill 90. The district projects a 75 76 fiscal need of 35 cents to operate and restore reserves and notes current outlays include 96000 paid to the City of Ukiah for fire protection.

Quiet Halloween Night in Ukiah Sees Limited Disturbances
Ukiah reports a calm Halloween with no major incidents or tampered candy. One youth was hit in the eye by an egg and treated at a hospital ER. Minor vandalism occurred on lawns at the golf course and Oak Manor Park. Ukiah PD deployed five regular officers plus 12 reserves and six cadets. Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office had six reserve deputies on duty.

Accidents injure four over weekend in Mendocino County
Four people were hurt in three weekend accidents across Mendocino County. A Ukiah man broke his nose Sunday after rear ending a dust-obscured car on a dirt road in Redwood Valley. David Porter, 21, collided with Gale Lancaster, 29, injuring Lancaster as well. A motorcycle crash on N State Street near the Highway 101 overpass Saturday left Richard Allen, 29, and Linda Allen, 23, of Talmage injured and taken to Hillside Hospital. A Willits woman, Alison Bryant, 28, sustained minor injuries Friday when her car rolled on Ridgewood Road east of East Hill Road.
