Architect Submits Plan For Locating Second Courtroom
San Francisco architect Frank Q. Merwin presented two remodeling plans to the county board for creating a second superior courtroom. Plan A moves the supervisors chambers to free space for a courtroom at an estimated cost of 32 550 dollars, with a ceiling beam to remove a column. Plan B adds a new story on the west annex at about 95 660 dollars, offering a larger, ready space with ongoing use during construction. Merwin favors Plan B for its expansion potential. The board noted Plan A saves money but the current chambers are too narrow. Plan B avoids relocation costs and adds 1000 square feet for future growth.
