VA declines MSH acquisition for VA hospital use

Mendocino State Hospital plans are narrowed as the Veterans Administration says it has no interest in converting MSH into a VA hospital. Musser notes veterans in northern California typically use SF facilities and those in southern Oregon prefer Portland. Gala Festival 72 Opens Tomorrow for Four Days of Fun

Four days of events start tomorrow evening in Ukiah. 101 Chase Ends With Suspect Detained After High Speed Escape

A man believed to be Mark Joseph Conway from New Mexico was held in county jail after a 110 mph pursuit north of Willits. Firearm threat occurred as CHP officer Kostanecki pursued and tackled the suspect who fled on foot from a logging road. Banks and businesses are being checked for stolen cards and IDs. Broadside Collision Kills Two Santa Rosa Girls

Two 21 year old Santa Rosa women, Donna Kennedy and Natalie Crowley, died after their car collided broadside with a northbound vehicle on Highway 101 two miles north of the Sonoma County line. Driver Chris Liapis, 20, Crescent City, and the other driver Dwight Robinson, Crescent City, were hospitalized in critical condition. Police cite a possible passing error on a blind curve as the crash cause.

Aid asked to restore Russian salmon habitat

A board of supervisors resolution passed unanimously urging federal action to restore salmon habitat in the upper Russian River tributaries.
