Ukiah Class of 74 Honors 104 at Awards Night

Scholarship night at Chessall gym honored Ukiah High seniors of the Class of 74 with 104 awards and over 18000 in scholarships and grants. Top scholars included Chaundell Warren and Mike Valentini with seven honors each, while donors and faculty highlighted the evening and future commencement in Anton Stadium.

Class action charges IRS with harassment

A federal class action filed in the Northern District of California alleges the Internal Revenue Service harassed taxpayers. Led by the Tax Class Action Suit Association of Carson City Nevada and Edward T. Lysek, the suit names 180 plaintiffs including Vivian and Ted Watkins, Oscar Klee, and numerous IRS agents, judges, and law enforcement members. Plaintiffs seek damages of $200,000 per plaintiff plus triple damages as exemplary relief for due process and domestic tranquility losses.

Realtors draw dead on Ukiah General Plan hearing

A crowd of over 125 gathered at Ukiah Veterans Hall for a public hearing on the preliminary Ukiah General Plan. Realtors led by Doris Spencer criticized open space limits and hillside development rules, while some residents defended the plan as flexible and needed for growth.
