Redskins Sign Trio Of Grid Free Agents

WASHINGTON UPI The Washington Redskins signed three free agents today adding defensive halfback Ralph Sheffield to the 1960 roster on the advice of former Eagles star Steve Van Buren who coached Sheffield on a semi pro team last year Also signed were defensive halfback John Popson of Furman and tackle John Pisapia of Glenville State College.

Snead banned over publicity stunt claims at Greensboro Open

Ukiah Women’s Golf Club awards low net honors

At a Tuesday meeting Captain Mona Fahrasy handed out golf balls for last week’s low net on even holes to Jean Stoodley 44 12 12 31 4 and Gert Northrop 44 12 32 for the 18 holers Irene Hardie 26 10 16 and Vivi Bones 23 5 18 won 9 holers. Next week’s play moves to Cub Mountain Golf Course with 8:30 tee time and lunch afterward. June 7 will feature Blind Bogey with par between 60 and 70 for 18 holers and 30 35 for 9 holers.

Jordan Paret Title Bout Looms in Las Vegas

Welterweight champion Don Jordan and Benny Paret of Cuba finish training for Nevada's first world title fight in 50 years at Convention Hall Friday night. Jordan, from Los Angeles, says he is not taking risks with his 147 crown and expects a win, while Paret is a 2-1 favorite with promoters hoping strong Nevada California and Arizona turnout.
