U S to pull some Americans from Laos as Pathet Lao tightens grip

An authoritative source said Washington plans to remove some Americans and dependents from Laos amid Pathet Lao consolidation of power. The U S may also shut down operations in parts of the country as security worsens and the pro American coalition government collapses.

Special session sought to end doctor boycotts over malpractice

Sacramento reports indicate physician and legislative leaders met to curb work boycotts and rising malpractice premiums. Sen. James R. Mills and Gov. Brown discussed bills to cap premiums for three months and to create insurance pools to ensure doctor coverage statewide.

Frank Zeek dies at 82 longtime Ukiah educator and civic leader

Frank Zeek, a Gold Beach Oregon native who spent 39 years as an educator in Ukiah, including as superintendent and as principal of Northside, died at home after a long illness at 12 15 a m aged 82. He helped build Anton Stadium and aided the United Christmas Effort. He is survived by his wife Zina two daughters two sons 10 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Services Thursday at 2 pm at Eversole Mortuary with burial later. The family requests contributions to the Ukiah Valley Association for the Retarded.

Potter Valley Two Day Community Festival Debuts

Potter Valleyites launch a weekend festival with a Rainbow Rider hot air balloon, parade on Main Street, balloon rides, dunking pool, chicken scramble, pony rides, booths, a Grange barbecue and dance led by Jim Braum and The Frontiersman. Sunday features a rodeo at new grounds funded by Louisiana Pacific and Mendocino Farm Supply with multiple events and all-day BBQ. Proceeds support Potter Valley High School. Auto Fire In Engine Of Car Belonging To Henry Wada

A 10:02 a.m. vehicle fire occurred at East Perkins and South Main streets. Fire damaged the engine of Henry T. Wada’s car while Henry Manhan was taken by Ukiah Ambulance to Hillside Hospital after a 12:45 a.m. resuscitation call to 2101 Sahara Place.
