Record crowd honors Campanella at Dodger Yankee game

A near 93,103 crowd at Memorial Coliseum watched the Dodgers host the Yankees in an exhibition game to honor Roy Campanella. The event, following a year of anticipation, raised funds for Campanella’s medical expenses as he was wheeled onto the field amid cheers. The Yankees won 6-2, but the night’s purpose eclipsed the score.

Ukiah Women’s Pin Team Triumphs Over Santa Rosa

Ukiah Women’s bowling team led by Barbara Van Fleet won three of four points against Santa Rosa Bowl at Yokayo Bowl. California anglers report a record number of angling licenses as opening weekend brought heavy winds and cold, yet the Inyo Mono area drew 40 000 to 50 000 visitors. New York golf body Uys Golf Association released the Open Championship qualifying changes for 2002.
