Fishing Season Opens Tomorrow Across California

California opens the 2959 general fishing season Saturday with an expected one million anglers. Fire hazards loom as warm spring continues. Trout season begins May 16 for several northern counties and May 30 for Del Norte Humboldt and others. The statewide southern area remains open year round. Trout limit reduced to 10, with exemptions for Siskiyou Trinity Shasta Tehama Lassen Modoc Plumas Sierra Butte and Nevada counties.

Dolphin Swim Club Holds Election and Practice Tomorrow

Dolphin Swim Club members meet tomorrow morning at 1 am in the Municipal Swimming Pool to elect new officers and begin the first workout of the year. Candidates for president include Carolyn Foutz Ben Lemmers and Sharon Floss with former president Ant Morris having moved. Byron McClennon and Kathy Wood seek vice president. Nominations for treasurer include Patsy Mosna Michael Zitvell Ken Toler and Vicki Prue Liners. Cindy Cleland Patsy Mosna and Vicki Drullner vie for secretary. Junior representatives from Jan Williams Marsha Cook Holly Cleland Jobs Barksdale will be chosen. Coach Steve Casperson outlines a season of 12 plus swimming meets two water ballet events and the Western AAU championships with the first meet scheduled for July 4. A Dolphins Barbecue fund raiser will be planned under Caroline Montgomery with advisor Mrs. Bob Jardine.
