Miteff Blasts Ratliff For Fourth Round TKO Victory

In Tijuana Argentina’s Alex Miteff 203 pounds battered Monroe Ratliff 190 of San Diego to win by fourth round technical knockout in a 10 round main event. Miteff, ranked No 8 heavyweight, opened cuts in the second, pressed with lefts and rights, floored Ratliff for an eight count in the fourth, and was stopped at 1:50 of the round.

Men's City Title at Yokayo Opens With Uneven Night

The Ukiah Men’s Bowling Assn opened the 1960 City Championships at Yokayo Bowl with team events. Ukiah Warehouse Sales, defending team champ, struggled and even lost to Johnny’s Market. Hollow Tree Re-Mill Hot led early with a 3039 total including handicap. Crawford Lumber was second at 3002 with handicap. Top early all-events marks included Joe Paladini 618, Ed Radcliff 610, Zander Moschetti 600, and Bob Gowan 596 as singles and doubles approach tomorrow night and Friday. Sooners Capture NCAA Wrestling Title In Maryland Arena

Oklahoma Sooners won the NCAA wrestling championship for the 26th time in 30 years, crowning three champions and a strong supporting cast to beat Oklahoma State. A crowd of 6 800 watched at Maryland Fieldhouse as a record 22 900 attended the three day meet. Davie Auble of Cornell repeated as outstanding wrestler, defeating Masaaki Hatta of Oklahoma State 9 5 in the 123 pound final. Stanley Abel of Oklahoma won 130 pounds beating Larry Lauchle of Pittsburgh 5 2. Larry Hayes of Iowa State won 147 pounds over Jerry Frude of Wyoming 4 1. Lee Anderson of Iowa State regained the 137-pound title by defeating Les Austin of Syracuse 6 3.
