Ukiah Golf Team Scores In Tourney
Ukiah's young high school golf team placed fifth among 14 North Bay League schools in the Healdsburg tournament over the weekend. Sonoma won with 416 strokes, Healdsburg and Montgomery tied for second at 420, Vallejo was fourth with 423. Ukiah was five strokes behind Vallejo, four Ukiah players shot in the 80s, Dave Thornton tied for fourth in low gross with 80, and Thornton also finished fourth in driving. Ukiah's next match is against Vallejo on April 2 at Ukiah Municipal Golf Course. no local golfers entered the San Francisco Junior tournament.

He is the first rookie to win the title in 23 years, setting a first-year record. Ken Schinkel of the Springfield Indians was runner-up with 82 points and the most goals with 43.
