An 18 year old Japanese from Aichi seized a Japan Air Lines Boeing 747 SR with 426 aboard near Tokyo then landed at Naha. After six and a half hours seven police officers disguised as maintenance workers overpowered him. No injuries except one heart attack. He demanded ransom and gear including ropes, masks, parachutes. Passengers released gradually. four Americans among them. The hijacking was JAL's fourth in recent years.
