Volunteer Bureau helps Mendocino County aid the bewildered
The Mendocino County Volunteer Bureau and switchboard opens at Ukiah Community Center to connect residents with government and private services. Led by Lynda Brockett and Bob Kudler, the effort under CETA provides referral lines 462 HELP and additional numbers, with hours 9 to 5 and expansion plans. Volunteers are sought for Sunday sessions aiding youth, Tel-Med medical information service, youth projects, Big Brothers, literacy tutoring, and other programs. The goal is a central, efficient point to match volunteers with needs and reduce service duplication.
