Willits Ukiah Open Track Season Opens Tomorrow

Local prep track teams from Willits and Ukiah prepare to face Napa and other rivals in the season opener. Notables include Ray Kennedy of Kelseyville, Steve Garrett of Willits, and Ukiah’s Bill Hook recent Humboldt State standout. Coaches expect strong sprint, hurdle, and field events with emphasis on early-season form and endurance.

Mona Fahrney won the 18 hole putting contest and Vivi Bones won the 9 hole contest, each receiving a golf ball. Mildred Carlson was elected Treasurer. Pony Pony Grad Meeting Set At 8 Tonight

Parents of Pony and Pony Grad League players aged 13 to 16, sponsors, officials, managers, and interested parties are invited to a special meeting at the Ukiah Elks hall at 8 p.m. Election of officers and summer league plans are major items.

Giants Meet Old Seals Facing Red Sox in Phoenix

In Phoenix the Giants meet the Boston Red Sox who include 11 former Seals. Outfielders Marty Keough and Bill Renna, catcher Hayswood Sullivan, and pitcher Ted Bowsfield among those on loan from San Francisco’s Pacific Coast League glory. Williams may debut in San Diego, with Williams, Cepeda, Alou sidelined by minor ailments.

Lou Campi Defies Rules With 300s And Left Footed Glide

New York based bowler Lou Campi, a 5 foot 6 inch, left foot slide right handed bowler, has posted 19 perfect 300 games and a 217 season average. He explains his unorthodox style came from bocci roots, saying he fears changing his delivery and maintains timing with a smooth approach. Campi plans to compete in the tournament of champions at Madison Square Garden May 27 against Welu Lubanski and Carter.

Bowden seeks new stamina plan from Australian coaches

Don Bowden of San Jose says he will adopt the best features of Percy Cerutty and Franz Stampfl training for the 1960 Olympics after visiting Melbourne. Block U Boxers To Perform for Golfer's Meeting

Joan Burghart’s 512 Series Leads Late Women’s Pin League
