Snyder Wins Ukiah City Council Seat To Fill Vacancy
Mary Snyder defeated Al Norris 1044 to 706 to claim the lone Ukiah council seat for a one year term after Lorraine Pearson resigned. Turnout was 35 percent with Snyder planning to push for election guidelines and utility review at upcoming meetings. Norris said he may run again and will stay active in the community. Snyder will be sworn in next Tuesday and attend the March 16 meeting.

Gunman talks with Carter after hostage release
In Warrensville Heights Ohio Corey Moore 26 held Capt Leo Keglovic 48 and a high school coed hostage. He released the girl after 11 hours in exchange for a TV set to watch coverage. President Carter said he would talk to Moore after the officer’s release, warning a dangerous precedent could be set. The White House said Carter would meet Moore if the captain was freed.
