Willits site chosen for Mendocino College location
Mendocino Community College board selected a Willits site as permanent campus after judging soil quality superior to Yokayo Rancho. The Willits tract, south and east of Willits, is Class 1 and 2 soil and currently pastureland. Yokayo was rejected 4-3 as prime agricultural land drew Farm Bureau and planning staff opposition. Lake County may seek de annexation if Willits is chosen, citing travel concerns. Farm Bureau directors meet at 9 a.m. tomorrow to review positions on both sites.

CETA layoff plan to be reviewed by BOS tomorrow
Mendocino County supervisors will hear Manpower Planning Council layoff recommendations for CETA employees, targeting 84 total by May 31 with 61 under Title II and 23 under Title VII. County counts include 37 county workers, 15 Ukiah city, four Willits, four Fort Bragg, one Ukiah Unified School District, plus 23 Title VI all with county. By July 1, about 45 CETA workers remain within county government.
