Court ruling settles issue for Lakeport carnival clash

Lakeport’s Fourth of July week end clashes over carnival location ended in Superior Court. Judge Ralph DeVoto sustained the city’s injunction forcing Gold Coast Shows to move from Library Park to the school grounds, amid petitions and threats of further suits.

Stores and offices to be open Monday holiday note

The Daily Journal reports that stores and offices will operate Monday despite the upcoming Fourth of July holiday. Courthouse, city hall, state and federal offices and banks will be open, with most businesses restarting Tuesday. Major food stores will stay open on the holiday.

Ridgewood Properties Win Suspension of Action Over Road Work

The Shasta County board lifts legal action against Ridgewood Properties after Calumet Industries pled a $10,000 letter of credit to be replaced by a bond. Ridgewood must provide road project data by Sept. 15 and may sell only in Tract 3 while awaiting paving by fall 1973. The interim deal expires Nov. 15 and may allow refile if conditions are unmet.

Ukiah Sees Season High of 104 Degrees in Heat Wave

The thermometer at Ukiah Fire Department hit 104 degrees on Thursday and may climb higher today. Noon reading reached 95 degrees, about 10 degrees above yesterday. Overnight low was 64, up from 59 on Wednesday.

Frontier Days Fireworks and Parade Highlight Willits Fourth

Fourth of July weekend brings Willits Frontier Days events including a 46th annual parade in Redwood Valley as Black Bart Days return with Jack Sprague in costume. The Redwood Riders sponsor gymkhana and barbecue while Willits Lions host a Lions Breakfast and junior rodeo. The four days feature cutting horse shows with top national horses, rodeos, horse events, and prize purses under AQHA rules.

Community College Trustee Election Planned for September

Lakeport to Host Silver Anniversary Boat Parade and Fireworks

The Lakeport Chamber of Commerce marks the silver anniversary of its Fourth of July night boat parade and fireworks on Library Park at Second Street.
