Dolphins Seek New Helpers For Ukiah Swim Team

The Dolphins, a Ukiah youth swim group aged 6 to 17, plan time trials Saturday at 9:30 a.m. and seek boys 8 and under and youths 13 to 17 along with girls 13 to 17 to join. Coaches aim to build a stronger squad ahead of July 4 events and a busy summer schedule including meets in Santa Rosa, Chico, Cloverdale, and Eureka.

Nearly Ideal Stream Conditions Reported

Warm temperatures and snow absence have created nearly ideal trout fishing conditions, PG&E stream scouts report. Snow remains at the highest elevations, water run-off slackens in some areas, most lakes and reservoirs are full and spilling. Bucks Lake is nearly full, fishing is good though some areas show moss, high elevation roads above 9000 feet closed or muddy. Sam Mele, manager of the Twins, captained NYU baseball team.

A special exhibtion golf match is set at Ukiah Municipal Golf Course at 3 30 p m pitting two top Ukiah Junior golfers against Pro Winston Howe and defending champion Frank Weatherford It will use best ball over 8 holes with no handicap and Dave Thornton and Don Crawford Jr rate the juniors as strong contenders Howe recently shot 77 at Napa in PGA qualifying but did not win and is expected to be sharper for the youngsters
